This for Barb with the lanolin issue. Our pharmacy was dispensing the same Lanolin with the same warning. It was terrifying Moms and staff alike. I had an arrangement with Lanisoh to give out samples with the LLL Sore Nipple information sheet. It was great. Then we got flak because our system doesn't allow samples to be given. So we are not giving out the reassuring stuff and I have met with several individuals in the Pharmacy to get the reassuring stuff. Meanwhile back at the mothership hospital they give out PureLan. So I mentioned to the Pharmacy that the main hospital gives and okays this product. So now they are looking into getting it on board. It's been several months now and still the non reassuring product makes it way to the floor. Mom's get home and someone reads the label and they call the Lactation Services person (this is someone from the Mothership hospital) and here we go again...infact I will probably hear about it this week..."what are you people giving out!?" Meanwhile I have a ton of the purple stuff sitting on my shelf. Plan of sneakiness is to pull off the purple sample and give the sheet out solo...hang on to the samples to give out in dire emergencies and we all know they do happen occasionally. Meanwhile have to push using colostrum and EBM and air dry. We know it works but in this day and age of goops and gimmicks the population wants to product not the easiest item available. But for your sanity get rid of the product with the warning label...talk to Pharmacy buyer and educator and post a sign for docs who order the stuff either to not order it and order a LC consult so you can educate.
