Hi, My name is Pat, and I live in Cape Town, South Africa. I am a retired childbirth and family life educator, now writing for parenting magazines. I am interested to know more about the developments around the issue of the latest AAP statement on breastfeeding. Of concern to me is the issue of giving babies dummies (pacifiers) to suck on in order to reduce the incidence of cot deaths, because if the negative effect on breastfeeding. I believe that it is unnecessary, and that putting the baby with the mother, where it belongs, is enough to keep the baby from dropping into a very deep sleep and experiencing apnoea or whatever causes cot death. Thank you for being here, and I look forward to reading what others have to say. Best wishes, Pat Torngren *********************************************** To temporarily stop your subscription: set lactnet nomail To start it again: set lactnet mail (or digest) To unsubscribe: unsubscribe lactnet All commands go to [log in to unmask] The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(R) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
