I, too have seen Progesterone used in the first trimester for people with a history of miscarriage. They closely monitor the progesterone levels. I believe it is most effective given as a suppository. I do not know the effects on breastfeeding. I have also seen the lovenox given to people with a history of misscarriage and fertility problems. The way it was explained to me is that a potential cause of misscarriage and infertility is that in some women the body sees the pregancy as "foreign" and begins to reject it. As a result, the placenta forms clots, causing the miscarriage. Giving the lovenox can help prevent the clots. I have also seen MD's give baby asprin to patients with infertility issues for the same reason.
