I have been working with a mom of a six week old over the internet. She spiked a fever after birth and the hospital where she delivered did not allow her to hold, breastfeed, or even be in the room with her baby. She has a baby that is now reluctant to nurse. She has been pumping for six weeks now. She is now trying skin to skin and lots of holding and encouragement. She states she went to a lactation consultant who told her to place a rubber bottle nipple over her breast to help baby latch. She says that the baby would nurse on it, but it made her very sore.

Is there anyone in the Millville New Jersey area that I could refer her to to get an appropriate nipple shield?

Thanks.
