We have also had "issues" with our RMcD house. Per manager, they classify
breastpumps as medical supplies/equipment (home health?) - therefore,
someone must be officially assigned to "clean/check" them regularly. The
subject of liability also came up as I was pushing to keep one of our pumps
there. We always have a few moms staying there in need of a breastpump.
What I've been doing is "loaning" mom a pump (Elite) until she can make
other arrangements - usually until her baby is out of ICU and in a private
room where she can room in (includes pump on trolley).
There is the risk that I may never see my pump again - but, so far have had
no problems.
