There is controversy about mercury in amalgams. Quite possibly if she has some in her mouth they could always be leaching mercury. My husband, a dentist, suggested having a composite "filling" placed. She could leave the caries in her mouth , let them abcess and get a root canal and have her teeth fall out. Let's face it. Everyone is exposed to PCBs and insecticides. The water you mix formula has toxic metals and other things too. So, breast milk is going to have some stuff in it too. Is that a reason to wean or not breast feed? Let's face it, at some point, the child will be exposed to a lot of "stuff." I think if it was really an issue there would be much more written about it. Amalgams are very common, esp. in the 30+ year olds. Most good dentists use only composite these days and replace amalgams with composite. Excellent dentists use gold. Gold would be another option. Altough it is tough to find a dentist that can do a good inlay or onlay. I hope this helps. Sure the dentist is trying to lookout for her welfare, but how much does he really know about breast feeding!!!! Good Luck and I hope this helps. *********************************************** To temporarily stop your subscription: set lactnet nomail To start it again: set lactnet mail (or digest) To unsubscribe: unsubscribe lactnet All commands go to [log in to unmask] The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(R) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
