One thing I find interesting, though, is if the growth of mold/bacteria is a concern with allowing another to use a previously used pump, why is it not an issue with the original owner? I've been using my pump for almost a year and a half, now -- should I not be equally concerned about mold/bacteria? Shouldn't the more important factor be length of time used, rather than number of users? The only distinction would be communicable diseases like HIV, hepatitis, etc., and I agree that the liklihood of transmission there is so remote as to be essentially zero. Secondly, it had once occurred to me that running ethyl alcohol through the system, followed by sterile water and a good airing out, should kill anything that might be in there. By placing the tubing in the alcohol, as well as swabbing the diaphragm, etc. Thoughts on this?
