sorry i am posting alot - jan, i hope the 3-post rule is your own and not a new one from lactnet! re the nosebleed, obviously a very scary experience but i cannot see how bf is in any way related except that it happened during the feeding and he was feeding the normal way, bf. The bleed could just as well have occurred on a bottle, or pacifier or not assoc w/ any feeding. a 7dday old would not, in my estimation, be using a great deal of force during a fdg. the mom should have a nice supply by then w/ letdowns. it is possible that the blood came from her from a capillary or some such, like rusty pipe syndrome. it is possible that the blood came from baby possibly upper gi? i guess the blood could be tested to see if maternal or neonatal? if anyone thought to do that at the time, i wouldn't have.
