I love the seat belt and smoking analogies too.  But it is awfully
cumbersome to clearly explain this whole risk-vs-benfit business to a BF
class.

I've found that the best way to "sum it up and make it stick" is to query
the class, after my discussion on the risks of formula:

"Would you let your child smoke, though George Burns lived to 100 while
smokiing a cigar a day?  Do I let my kids get in the car without a seat
belt, though I never used one as a child?  Of course not."
