Sometimes it feels like a dare -- "can you still help me
while blindfolded, and with one hand tied behind your back?"

Cathy, this is such a good line. Your post is very well worded and I plan to
recite it to myself over and over until it's easy to say. I had three very
frustrating situations yesterday...similar to yours. One mom called to ask for
help, rejected all offers and suggestions, "argued" with me about what actually
happened in the hospital (she asked "did they tell you that?" when I mentioned
the difficulties baby was having with latch when I saw them - twice in one
day, once the next - and didn't even remember me. Maybe she thought the nurses
told me about her.) But she had the office number and called for help so I
praised her for that. And continued to offer suggestions. Sigh...bad day, getting
worse.
