My parents did not have us in their bed when we were babies, and my mother has often queried how my sister and I can stand the nighttime interruptions from our babies/toddlers. Yet my parents recount with pride all the times their cats show up and walk across the bed with muddy paws at 3 AM or deposit a gory chipmunk where it will greet the toes of the first person to leave the bed.
