The Gerber rep brought us a gel pad to see. I always ask the reps to come regardless if I use the products or not so that at least I can see what the mothers are looking at or using. These pads look to me like the Vigilon dressings we often used for skin care on preemies. They fall apart easily and leave little pieces all over. One mom said she couldn't get it off her breast and was afraid the baby would ingest the pieces. Playing with it in the office I found it crumbled very easily. Moms who have tried them for the most part do not like them and at this point I recommend against them. The main reason I won't recommend them is that Gerber will not tell us what they are made from. Seems to be a big secret. I really have not been impressed with any of the products that they have come out with recently. Really dislike the Breast Therapy stick with petroleum as the primary ingredient. The samples that they dropped off have coupons and a sample gel pack as well. On the front it says something to the effect of making breastfeeding more comfortable for you. Yuck! I do like the breast ring for cold/warm therapy, convienent for some moms.
