Dan raises an interesting point in his query about Ezzo and FTT: "...get people to stop using the program simply because it gets your children to sleep through the night. (which I still don't believe, given the reports of night waking among some of the people I know who used babywise.)" I suspect people who "buy into" the program and find it isn't "working" (namely, their babies do not sleep through the night when they are supposed to) are very reluctant to speak up. After all, to admit that it isn't working for you isn't seen as the fault of the program. Rather it is seen as a "failure" on the part of the parents. Their faith wasn't strong enough, their committment to their children's spiritual well being wasn't sufficient or whatever. Once you firmly believe that something is the absolute truth, you don't question that "truth". You question everything else first. So reports of the "success" of such parenting programs may not reflect what is actually happening in some cases. Of course there are babies being parented in this way who "give up" asking for what they need. We've been over that ground before.
