According to my ex-husband, the OB/GYN, if one doesn't ovulate, the uterus
doesn't know what is going on, and a variety of things can happen, including
no periods and more frequent, usually lighter, periods.  I know, when I was
younger, I seemed to have periods, no matter what was going on.  By the time
I adopted Joanna, at nearly 41, however, they were easier to stop than they
had been with my other kids.

It also sounds to me like this mom you are working with is having a good
early response to her lactation induction efforts!
