At first glance the news coverage on the latest co-sleeping research seems disheartening, but it's my opinion that the coverage represents a shift in how news editors are handling this issue. This time out routinely mentioned that co-sleeping has proponents and detractors (and much of the coverage mentioned the positives FIRST). This tells me news reporters and editors are now aware (or were quickly made aware when they search their archives) that anti-co-sleeping recommendations are controversial. This is a Big Deal. Consider that the most recent CPSC release was treated as gospel by almost all the news editors and contrasting messaging had to placed after the fact. This time much of the *initial* coverage included our messaging. Let's continue to put pressure on news outlets to correct errors and to cover this issue responsibly. It's working. -- Jodine Chase *********************************************** To temporarily stop your subscription: set lactnet nomail To start it again: set lactnet mail (or digest) To unsubscribe: unsubscribe lactnet All commands go to [log in to unmask] The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(TM) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
