How is everyone getting any reimbursement for donor milk for use with premies in your nurseries? The scoop: We have always had a Neonatologist wanting to use mom's milk. We finally have him convinced to use donor milk when mom's milk runs short. But as our Director of Women's and Children's Services is seeing the bills for it's use she is balking LOUDLY at signing the Purchase order for another order. And she says she will not continue to allow it's ordering if it is not being reimbursed for the patients it's billed to. Added to that we have a new Neo that fills in occasionally that will not use it because of the Guidelines for Perinatal Care doesn't recommend it and he will only do "standardized care". The director who controls the ordering monies is concerned only about the almighty dollar of her budget, not the health reasons it's need for these babies. So... It would help greatly if all you wise ones who've been doing this a while could share some information about any kind of reimbursement. (especially in the south or south carolina region). But we'd like to hear for others too. Thank-you in advance, Rachel A.
