I first saw ad in LHJ yesterday and went to the website: http://www.avlimil.com/index.html It is being marketed to new mothers, "Since I gave birth to our son, I noticed I just wasn't in the mood for sex. Avlimil helped me give a little something back to myself, and to my marriage." It is NOT a prescription drug. The active ingredients in Ablimil include: Salvia officinalis, Rubus idaeus, isoflavones (from Peuraria montana and Trifolium pratense), Morella cerifera, Capsicum annuum, Tuenra diffusa, Zingeber officinalis, Glycyrrhiza echinata, Baleriana officinalis, Actaea vacemosa. Monthly cost is $75. "Avlimil is taken as a once daily tablet and has been shown to help female sexual response safely and effectively. Avlimil is completely non-hormonal, containing no estrogen, progesterone, testosterone or other steroid hormones. It has not been shown to interact with other medications, and is not contraindicated in any major medical condition. Woman who are pregnant, may become pregnant, or are nursing should not take Avlimil. Women who have serious medical problems including, but not limited to, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and/or nerve disorders should also not take Avlimil."
