I agree with Linda Smith that infant unhappiness deserves investigation, and with Lisa Jones that an infant who is chronically disorganized and irritable needs to be evaluated. It is a good thing to teach parents infant cues, encourage them to meet their baby's needs, and teach them some basic soothing methods for when baby is overstimulated. But I have found some reason (usually feeding related, either over or underfeeding) every time I've been asked to see a "colicky" baby. And addressing the feeding problem solved the colic, very quickly. -- Catherine Watson Genna, IBCLC New York City mailto:[log in to unmask] *********************************************** To temporarily stop your subscription: set lactnet nomail To start it again: set lactnet mail (or digest) To unsubscribe: unsubscribe lactnet All commands go to [log in to unmask] The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(TM) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
