someone asked "if the book is as good as people...were...saying (e.g., talking about the risks of formula feeding rather than the benefits of breastfeeding) then why on earth does Ross want to distribute this to new mothers?" well, they have the research. and my expereicne is that mothers wean very very early. there are a multitude of reasons. some wean before ever leaving the hospital. many wean when they return to work. many moms also do the dreaded "breast and bottle" right from day one. so they are trying for brand loyalty i guess. i guess ross hopes they will think, "gee ross really supports breastfeeding. i'll use theier formula when i switch over". or "the aap has their seal of approval on ross formula, i'll use that one" or maybe if they first promote bf, then genetically engineer components of same and make up a new formula, moms will use it.
