Hi. Is the baby tongue tied.? I would go to Jack Newman MD's description of Latch at www.breastfeedingonline.com, and do some work with the chin touching the breast FIRST as baby comes in to latch...and have chin buried into the breast and nose tipping upwards. I would also get someone to prescribe the all purpose nipple compound cream that Jack Newman MD recommends, as it has worked wonders for many mothers. And then figure out what is going on with the tongue..but changing the latch may really work, ... Kathleen Kathleen B. Bruce, BSN, IBCLC co-owner Lactnet, Indep.
