Patricia, if the woman got pregnant, I do mnot think her hormones were too 
much out of balance,
You say: ´´baby is slightly under birth weight´´, does this mean: baby is 
still under bw, but gaining, or: baby was gaining but went down, or baby lost 
weight and did not start recovering.When P&P (pee and poop) are fine (as you 
say), I´d presume the first to be the one and there should be no reason for 
concern.
Perhaps a slight increase in frequence, a latch check and/or some additional 
massage during feeding might do the trick and bring baby´s weight up enough 
to satisfy the dr.
