In many Europian countries herbs are prescribed by physicians, just as drugs
are here in the US. The information that I have from Dr. Tieraona Lowdog is
that no serious side effects have been reported in over 2.5 million
prescriptions per year in Germany. Echinacea also has over 150 years of use
in the US and was once one of the most popular pharmaceuticals sold in the
US. One study in 1996 showed no adverse reactions in patients ranging in age
from infant to adult (Phytomedicine, 1996; 3(1):95-102.)
