I have only posted to the list once before and rarely have time to read all of your posts but am enlightened every time I have. I work with hospital inpatients, mostly, in a very new practice have a frantic mother who was just told by her babysitter that her infant (6-7mo old) was fed another mother's breastmilk. She has gone to pick the infant up and is in tears requesting information re HIV transmission and breastmilk. I have gathered information re the antibody and anti-inflammatory properties of breastmilk but I know this mom will want more specific info. She does not know the 'unintentional milk donor'. This mom has been fearful of this very thing happening. Any pearls of wisdom you can grant 'us' will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jan Coffman RN IBCLC
