Soemtimes when I'm counseling a mom who is in this situation I feel as if I'm either the first person to ask "What do you want to do?" or the first one to really listen to her answer. I try and be direct so that I know how I can help her. So, whether she needs to be assured that she'd doing a great job, needs some help, or just the best way to wean so that no one gets ill - I can give her the appropriate help.
