Just saw the program....  Gut wrenching...

Yes, the LC looks awful - No questions about diapers and stools, no follow
up weight checks. Talking to the mother about the benefits of breastfeeding
during a visit that I suppose would have reflected a 10% weight loss and a
"feed the baby" type of intervention.  

They also mentioned a "contract" - similar to the ER episode.  Does anyone
have any hospital with such a contract?  Where do these writers get that
idea?  I would love to see a "source" for that information - I bet it is
labled "ye olde formula company rep".

But the reality is, our women (especially those of low income who have few
financial resources) do not have the safety net they need when they are
trying to breastfeed.  Few have help  at home, even fewer know how to
access help in the form ( in our county) of WIC, our health plan, Public
Health Nursing, etc.  

If only they would have given a "solution" in the form of home visitors,
automatic health care for all babies, etc.  

Feeling sad tonight..  :-(
