Not much in the way of scientific information or medical diagnosis, but I
can say that I have the EXACT same type of nipples (deep crevices, constant
"crust"). If it is any consolation, I did not have any trouble at all when
breastfeeding. I nursed both of my children well over a year each and it was fine.
Because of the constant flow of milk, the crusts did not form like they
normally do. On a few rare days, especially towards weaning when they were
nursing less and less, there might be a very small amount of "crust," but it was
very soft and I would just wipe it away with a tissue or washcloth before
feeding. Never impeded milk flow.

It was interesting for me to read this, because I thought that this was
normal, and happened to most people. Apparently, not! :)
