Subject: formula costs for hospitals considering becoming BabyFriendly

Dear Friends:
The cost of purchasing formula has been a barrier that many
Baby-Friendly hospitals have overcome.
For one thing, once formula is counted and people using it have to sign
for it and justify its use, the amount used drops enormously. People don't
take samples home for their friends.
Other hospitals have found it cheaper to buy what they need from local
discount houses, instead of buying it from the companies.
In other parts of the world, parents are responsible for bringing in
formula, just as they bring in clothes and a car seat for their baby.
    warmly,
