Based on my sample size of two, this wasn't the case. I am very small
breasted. Oh for the days when I was nursing and had a few curves. I
consider myself to have "lean" breasts. With baby # 1 I rarely had a
plugged duct, maybe a couple. This baby nursed pretty regularly every 2
hours or so, would hoover it down in about 10 minutes or less, gained
like crazy. We probably started co-sleeping when she was about 8 or 9
months and she didn't wake more than a couple of times at night.

Baby #2 was co-sleeping from the beginning and was a dedicated night
nurser until about 15 or 16 months, so I did a lot of nursing lying
down, and is possibly why I was plagued with plugged ducts until she was
around 18 months. Thank goodness for tandem nursing. They never lasted
more than about 24 hours, but this baby also nursed much more
frequently, also gained like crazy. The night nursing is the only thing
I can think of to cause so many plugged ducts. Maybe carrying her around
in the Baby Trekker had an effect too.
