Of my four children, three were considerably later than six months when they
started on solids - they all started at around 10 months. Yes, solids were
available to them, but they were not interested and wouldn't eat them. None
ever had any feeding problems (although they did all have allergic
tendencies - which are common in my family - and I wonder if this was part
of the reason they resisted solids).

I personally know a larger number of healthy, normal breastfed babies who
didn't start on solids until well after six months, and none of them had
problems eating when they decided they were ready.
