A mom of a 6 w.o. called this morning. She has bilateral areolar eczema per
her dermatologist and has been treated with Elocon. She applied the Elocon
on one side for 2 to 3 days pumped that breast while the baby nursed on the
opposite side. Then she did same on the other breast. While on the Elocon
the eczema cleared. She has done this regime a few times over the past three
weeks, when the eczema appeared. Now since the baby is back on the breast,
the area is becoming weepy and painful again. The mom has had eczema on and
off since her childhood. She avoids milk, takes a combination of vitamins
and minerals but is is not on a special diet. She nursed her first child
exclusively 4 1/2 yrs ago without a flare up on her areolas. Her
dermatologist did not have any solution other than to wean if this continues
to reoccur. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for her ????
As always, thank you!!!
