Dear Employed Breastfeeding Mom and all,

Your current situation brought back my own memories of my employment
at a large bank a couple of years back. My son at the time was about
a year old and my MIL would bring him to me at lunch so he could
nurse. Other times we would meet in the parking lot to have lunch and
nurse. Some of our lunch/nursing times we would meet at the local
breastfeeding/maternity store. The other bank employees would often
ask "how old is your baby" or "isn't he over a year?" I was very
nonchalant about the whole thing actually, like this is what we do and
that's that. My answers were often just a "yes he is" or "we're not
used to being apart for such a long time" (you see, I was hired for
part time, but they scheduled me full time-- it was a big mix up. I
ended up quitting after working there less than 6 months.) I'm sure
that the other employees thought I was kinda "out there". I always
got strange looks from them. That's ok. Anyway, the point is: Don't
let them get to you. You know what you are doing is right for you.
No one else can feel your feelings! And, no one else will have to
live with the decisions you make for your family...
Katte Smith :)
