I am currently assisting a lady who has had a total hysterectomy following
the birth of her first child (she is 22 and totally devastated). She is
currently pursuing surrogacy. Her fertility specialist has told her to
cease breastfeeding in order to take fertility drugs. As this may be her
only child she is reluctant to give up breastfeeding before she is good and
ready. I am hoping that Tom and Jack will be able to help us with the
following drugs:

Puregon - follitropin beta
Gonal F - follitropin alfa
Buserelin - gonadorelin analogue

Providing these drugs are safe to use whilst breastfeeding, my client is
happy to not tell the whole truth about ceasing breastfeeding to her
consultant. We cannot believe that her prolactin levels, at 6 months post
partum, are likely to affect the fertility treatment although she is willing
to take a blood test just to reassure her own mind.

What was that about sacrificing breastfeeding on the altar of ignorance?

I have checked my copy of Hale's and the archives but no luck.

I am nomail at the moment, so please reply privately as well as to the list.

Thanks guys - don't know what I would do without you all.
