Regarding Kris's inquiry about Astelin. I am trying to catch up on
Lactnet before the LLLI conference, & didn't see much response to your
question. I finally dug through the right pile and came up with the
product monograph I brought home from the drug rep 2-3 months ago. It is
newly released this year. Generic is azelastine HCl and it's available as
a nasal spray. It's an H1-receptor antagonist with additional
pharmacological activity. Steady-state plasma concentrations range from
0.72 to 1.09 ng/mL. Protein binding of it and its metabilite average 88%
and 97%. Half-lives are 22 and 54 hours, respectively. No information
in the monograph about breastfeeding (of course). Currently recommended
for adults and children over 12.
Hope this helps.

Judy, in damp, cool western Washington (found 2 1/2 inches of rain water
in the bucket in the yard that had been empty yesterday!
