I mostly "lurk". This topic though I have. followed very closely and must agree with Ms. Riedel. Our task, should we choose to accept it, I feel is to be the advocate of the dyad.

Perhaps we use our knowledge and experience to "sway" opinions at times, yes, but it must always be what is truly best for the family, not our political and heartfelt "agenda".

Much warmth

Subject: pumping, breastfeeding,etc

I have the feeling from some of the recent posts that some of us LC's who

sometimes have to rely on pumps for our mothers(for whatever the reason),

temporary or permanent bottle feeding, encourage breastmilk in a bottle

talk about babies being efficient, etc., are being looked at with a

critical eye.

Personally, I will do whatever it takes to get breastmilk into a baby, no

matter what the amount. There are mothers out there who are just plain NO

T

AS COMMITTED to providing breastmilk as some of the rest us are or have

been when our kids were small.

Let's take Mom and baby where they are and give them what THEY need; NOT

what WE think they need.

I guess I feel this way because as I scan all of the posts relating to

this particular topic, I see the "us vs. them" mentality rearing its ugly

head here.

Sometimes, we all have to step away from what the studies say and just go

with what the mother needs. This is all about them, NOT all about us.
