I am new to the site but not to advocacy for breastfeeding.However just committed to supporting my passion with creditials. I just want to take this time to thank every supporter and encourager that is fighting the good fight! Before I was a mother I stood by mothers and instructed them ,from what I learned from training and other mothers.

 I remember 16 years ago, a wonderful pregnant woman came to my friends house ,provided her Lactation services ,was very professional and inspiring to me. I had not completed studies for R.N. at the time but thought WOW! that was cool.That was the match that struck the flame ! When I became a mom , you know exactly what I did-my birthing plan-Breastfed baby signs and immediate skin to skin. When the nurse came to my room and said no urine -are u getting anything-you may need to give FORMULa- I said day 1 -1 wet daiper-Back up Lady! no formula-When the DR said bili is questionable- I said give me one more night-watch me Doc.. Needless to say,we left the hospital the next day pee/poop and bili wnl.

I said all this to say -I did not come from a  biological family of breastfeeding advocates but my friend 16 years ago went on to nurse my god child for over a year. I dont know that lactation consultants name 16 years ago but she started for me, a lifetime of possibilities. I would love to tell her thanks but instead I will take this time to thank everyone who has helped new moms . 

The reason why I was able to work with the Dr and Nurse regarding my son  was because a lactation consultant came to my room and educated me. I in return have done the same for others and hope
