As Denise brought up, there has been discussion about the use of super
glue to repair perineal lacerations on the midwife list, but I don't
think any firm body of work has really been built up to support this
practice, though it is attractive, and in any case I would be reluctant
to use something of this nature on the fissures. However, I am wondering
if a simpler solution might be the use of a thin nipple shield? Has this
been tried with this mom previously? Obviously, close followup would be
needed to monitor infant weight gain, but perhaps this would increase the
moms comfort.
