We started a program this spring where the hospital gift shop is selling
breastpumps and supplies. We made a sticker to place on each item that says "
If you have a question about the use of this product, or any breastfeeding
concern, our staff of International Board Certified Lactation Consultants
will be happy to assist you. Please call _ _ _-_ _ _ _ for an appointmen".
We have fliers about the products in the postpartum educational packs and if
parents ask, we tell them products are available in the gift shop. That way,
they can get instructions and help from us and purchase quality products.
Some parents have read about pumps and already decided on which one to buy
and if they want, they can purchase the pump while in the hospital and we can
show them how to use it before they are discharged. We meet their needs and
also the profits are funneled back into the hospital.
