I would like to add my 2c to the poop discussion. My daughter only stooled
every 2 or 3 days from birth until she started solids at eight months. I was
very concerned until we found out she was 8oz. over her birth weight at one
week and remained in the 90-95th percentiles or so after that (you should
have seen her chunky little thighs at 2 weeks old). She nursed frequently and
had lots of wet diapers. Her doctor was never concerned about her stooling
pattern. Hannah has always been much bigger and heavier than her constantly
poopy older brother (who is tall and thin - very high energy). She seems to
have a more efficient metabolism than he does. I think it is a good idea to
look for sources of a problem in a baby that is not doing well, but what
about a baby that show no other signs of any problems? I am concerned a about
doing a lot of GI testing on babies that have no other symptoms.
