I have searched the Archives but did not find anything concrete to give a
mother. I have a mother of a 2 month old who had been diagnosed by symptoms
alone of reflux and has blood in the stools. This is a happy roly poly baby
who was feeding frequently, spitting up and had some blood in the diaper with
watery stools. She had been told to eliminate dairy by the Ped which she had
done when she called me. I instructed her to nurse from one breast x2 feeds
which resulted in much less spit up, and pastier stools but still blood. I
am thinking that the gut just hasn't quite healed yet and that explains the
continued blood but of course in the meantime she has seen a Gastro Dr who
told her to stop nursing, pump for 2 weeks and try Alimentum. She does not
want to formula feed but I need some research or concrete info to support
this position. Thank you.
