Hi Deena,
It is correct to say that nystatin is not well absorbed from the bowel.
But if you take enough some will be absorbed (I have a ref somewhere
about blood levels - see the LC Series). Certainly I have found many
women find that pain reduces with oral nystatin capsules (500,000 units)
ii tds or qid for at least 2 weeks. Also taking acidophilus at the same
time seems to help. And cutting out sugar, alcohol, etc.
