Hello all

What are your instructions to mothers who wish to breastfeed but need to
take Effexor 150 mg xr and Celexa 20 mg on a daily basis? Currently have a
patient who is off Celexa and her Effexor dose has been dropped to 37.5 qd.
She may have to resume the larger doses.

Originally we were going to have her take the Effexor at HS and not nurse
for 5 hours. After delivery she informed me that she was also on Celexa and
that she took both meds in the morning. I have read the information in
Hale's book, the archives and Micromedics. Our pharmacist is supportive of
breastfeeding but is not recommending breastfeeding while on Celexa. I'm
not too eager to use it either due to the long half life.

Any information that is evidence/research based is needed.

Thanks
