We have a mother of a newborn baby in our community
who has breast cancer. She was diagnosed while
pregnant and had a baby boy one week ago. Her plan is
to breastfeed for 2 weeks before starting chemo. She
is still waiting to find out what chemo drugs she will
be taking, but has a rough idea that her treatment
will last about 4 months. Her plan is to pump and
dump for those 4 months to keep up her supply so that
she will be able to nurse once the chemo has cleared
from her milk.

The mom's main request right now is to have contact
and support from other mothers who have been in
similar situations (breast cancer or needing to
temporarily wean for medical reasons). Does anyone
know a way I can help her make those connections?

If anyone else has advice on this situation, I'd love
to hear it! This is a new one for me I welcome any
input.

Thanks!
