Magda, I do think there is some research on the Medela web site with 
their baby weigh scale as being an effective tool for intake assessment. 
I wonder what kind of scale was used in this research that you quote? 
The only ones that are considered appropriate for IBCLCs doing test 
weights are the very sensitive scales that weigh 1/10 of ounces or every 
3 ml.

And most of us don't test weigh just born newborns, but we do so with 
older babies to assess intake with problem situations (I personally want 
baby to be 2-3 days old). There was some research done in the USA from a 
recent JHL about how the test weights showed that just eyeballing a 
nursing wasn't good enough but hearing swallowing sounds was almost as 
accurate.

I would agree that a regular baby scale is not accurate enough. We have 
to know by small increments, like the Tanita BLB12 or Medela Baby Weigh 
scale do.
