From personal experience I have had no trouble getting new contact lenses.
Over the past 12 years of continuous breastfeeding I have had annual
exams(with nursing baby in my lap, too!) and my contacts and glasses
replaced multiple times by my opthamologist. And that may be the difference.
My dr told me vision changes slightly during pregancy/lactation and they do
not like to change the rx. Because chances are vision will go back to the
way it was pre-babies she did not want to overcorrect the problem. And
truthfully, if I had insisted she would have given me a corrected RX based
on the most recent exam. So I don't think the issue is so much getting the
eye exam, it's getting a change to the RX.

I actually went years when I was younger and had no money, wearing just
one lens! Shoot, people(like my Dad) who are blind in one eye can still see
quite well with the "good eye". And when I loose a lens I also walk around
with one lens instead of wearing glasses until I can get a replacement LOL!

Can this mother see an MD (and hopefully get reimbursed by her insurance
to boot) instead of an optomotrist? See a new optomotrist and not mention
breastfeeding?
