Ultrasound study on mice indicates brain cell migration may be affected by
ultrasound. Recent topic on Lactnet has been that disorganized newborn suck
is being seen more frequently than in years past--both with bottle and
breast.

I wonder: Could the use and timing of ultrasound be part of this trend? My
daughter had two scans during pregnancy, though old school me wished she had
not given in to any. Grandbaby's suck was OK, but I was there helping with
latch every day until things got easier. I also got her midwife to keep her
hand away from baby's head right after birth, as per Lactnet. At 28 months,
she is still breastfeeding 3 times in 24 hours, though cold cow milk is now
her request in hot weather, at seated restaurants and the drive through
(take away).
