In reference to Rachel's query:
I can say that specifically in our facility, the only mothers who happen into the Recovery Room have had caesarean deliveries. The baby is brought to the mother and they stay together, moving as one back to the Birthing unit. 
Our vaginal births stay together in the same room they have labored in, skin to skin occurs at birth.
