I think the new LLL guidelines are in line with the HMBANA guidelines listing
that refrigeratored breastmilk can be kept for eight days at 4 degrees C (39
degrees F) and actually shows a decrease in bacterial growth. (reference:
 Pardou, A. Serruys, E, Mascart-lemone, F. et al:  Human Milk Banking;
 Influence of storage processes and of bacterial contamination on some milk
constituents.  Biol Neonate 65:302-309, 1994)  As the original author of the
information sheet on Milk Collection and Storage published by Ameda/Engnell
as Breastfeeding Answers (even tho the series editor doesn't credit the
original author in the revised version) and somewhat of an information
collector, I have kept up with the literature on this topic.  The most recent
HMBANA guidelines are available from Lois Arnold at HMBANA.  I don't have an
e-mail address for her but check the ILCA directory for her address in CT.
