Hi, All: Among all the wonderful posts about adoptive nursing, I haven't
seen any about tandem nursing of adopted babies. A friend of mine has
been nursing her 18 month-old with a supplementer (SNS). The child does
not nurse without milk in the supplementer, although she drinks from
cups, etc. Now there's a one-month-old nursing with abm in the SNS. The
mother is happy to continue the nursing relationship with the older
child, but has encountered jealousy when it's the baby's turn (she
obviously can't use the SNS with cow's milk simultaneously with the baby,
and I don't know whether the older one would accept the abm). She would
be happy to hear from anyone as to the options (SNS for one and Lact-Aid
for the other? Get the older one to accept the taking of turns (although
I can see that it may be easier on mom if they both nursed simultaneously
at times)? See if older one will accept abm?) Donated human milk is not a
realistic option for this mom. Thanks for any ideas, suggestions and
experiences. Mom would happily correspond through private e-mail as
well. Alicia. [log in to unmask]
