Hi Martha, I have had the experience of trying to run an outpatient Lactation
clinic in an inpatient setting. They must always register as outpatients,
because your clients as outpatients do not qualify for the tax exempt status
your hospital patients do and must be taxed on pump rental etc. Your
outpatient billing department should be able to help you with this. The most
important thing you must do is schedule by appointment because walkins really
mess up impatient rounds etc. and it helps so much to know when they are
coming and scedule around them. Ours has moved to a retail setting with an LC
assigned there. This is a much better way to do this.
