Cathy says:

<<When I
see mothers who are using Medela pumps who have dirty or moldy tubing, I
have them wash the tubing well with soap, rinse with vinegar, then rinse
with water again, swing the tubing in the air like a lariat to create
centripetal force to push the water out (gotta watch the ceiling fan!),
and then run the pump to dry out the residual water. >>

Curious as to why you use vinegar. Is it to clear the soap? I usually have
them wash w/ hot soapy water, rinse, boil, and then push some alcohol down
the tubing because that seems to dry faster than the water -- lariat style as
well.

I saw the increase in condensation when Medela when to the smaller diameter
tubing. I don't know how many of you are old enough to remember the larger
tubing that Medela used to use. Pam says she thinks it was when they moved
the insertion of the tube from the top of the flange to the bottom -- I think
it is when they went to a smaller tube. In either case, both of us are
showing our age.....

Of course, I remember when we stopped preterm labor with alcohol...."have a
couple of screwdrivers each day"...and remember when we could tell who was in
preterm labor on the L&D unit just by sniffing.
